Here we go again...

The Scotiabank Giller released the longlist today. Thank you Scotiabank for telling us what merits truly great literature because we can't decide on our own. Anyone feel obligated to read these books now?

I have always wondered what Hnatyshyn was smoking when he named The English Patient as the winner of the 1992 Governor General's award.

Hey Ondaatje, ever heard of a comma or period? :)

I had already wanted to read a couple of these, that being said the list won't deter me from reading them ;)

I think the lists can be helpful as a quick "what Do You think I should read Miss librarian" from your friends and family..I don't know if it would be good for a public library context, since I don't work in one anymore. And at the academic library...they all have enough to read without my advice.

Mac has a popular fiction section now! egads!
