I'll begin with the quick and obligatory apology for my lack of bloggery as of late. I've been busy with the end of school, which is finally approaching with the conclusion of my guided research project!
Although I've been promising myself that I wouldn't come on here until I was done the paper, I couldn't resist. I was at work yesterday, reading The Globe and Mail's bestseller lists for paperback and hardcover fiction and non-fiction. I think it's always helpful to have an idea of what's popular because I cannot even count the number of times someone has come in asking for a book "that's, you know, on that list, in the newspaper." I was surprised to note (again) that the two top non-fiction hardcovers are God is Not Great, by Christopher Hitchens and The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. I am no expert on religion, but I find it disconcerting that there are the top two books right now. So I ask, what does it all mean? Is it perfectly normal that people are always seeking new answers to things they do not fully understand? Are they just good books and I'm missing out? I have no good answers, but something does not settle well with me.
More posts to follow...I've been reading Library Journal for fun again ;)

I too find the books on the bestseller list interesting. Especially the Kite Runner; can we find nothing to replace Khaled Hosseini?
